Wow - we have had one awesome July! We've played each weekend, and every single show - North Beach Racine, Vnuk's in Cudahy with Roger Clyne, Coin's in Kenosha, and Hog Cabin in Beloit - was fantastic...thanks to all the people that came out and had fun with us! We'll have pictures up from those shows eventually, I promise...but in the meantime, you can check them out on the 89 Mojo facebook page (simply search us on facebook and click the "Like" button). I can't believe how quickly the time has flown by and that we're only a few days away from our show in Vegas. For those that are making the trip: thanks so much and we can't wait to have an unforgettable time with everyone! For those who can't make it, please keep all of us in your prayers, and start planning on making the trip next year!! (We're hoping to make it a yearly thing.)
Love ya's -

Last minute - but awesome - show! - July 5, 2010
We were hoping this was going to happen, but just needed the official word. This Thursday, July 8th, we will once again playing with Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers! They are, without a doubt, one of the very best touring bands out there, and we must admit that we wish we could write such amazing songs like they do. Try to make it out for this, and we promise that it will be one of the best rock 'n roll shows you'll EVER see. Tickets can be purchased at www.vnuks.com.
Pictures from Beloit are up - check those out when you get a chance. The pics from North Beach will be up soon. We had a blast at both places, and are looking forward to setting up some more shows at each in the near future...so watch for those.
Happy (belated) Independance Day! Every single past and present member of our military gets a heartfelt THANK YOU from us, and remain in our daily prayers.
Take care. Hope to see ya' soon. Peace & love -
Back to Beloit! - June 24, 2010
Yes, it's true - and we can't wait! Beloit has always been dear to us...maybe it's because every time we're there we have the best time ever... We're playing this awesome event called "Ya-Mon-Fest" (all the proceeds go to children of Bev, an employee of Hog Cabin that passed away from cancer a few years ago). Check out the "Shows" page from more details.
Everyone get their flights and rooms booked for Vegas yet? I have a feeling it's going to be legendary...
We have more shows coming up - finally...we've missed you all! July 2nd we are at the North Beach Oasis in Racine, from 6-9pm. This place has Wisconsin's largest outdoor playground, so bring the kids and lets start the holiday weekend out right!
Looking forward to seeing you -

Casino gig Friday night! - June 10, 2010
Tomorrow night we're back at Potawatomi Casino (at Bar 360), and we'll be starting the celebration of Dom's birthday! Hey - it's FREE, so even if you don't gamble, you've already won!
Unfortunately, we will NOT be playing at Coin's on Saturday night. We've heard that it's been advertised, but it was some simple miscommunication. We will back at Coin's sometime in July, and will post the date very soon.
The recording is moving along and getting closer to being done. We are very happy with how it's turning out so far, so hopefully it'll be worth the wait.
We love and miss ya' (and hope to see ya' soon).
Tonight!! - May 14, 2010
Hey there! It's been awhile...we miss you. We've been working diligently on the new recording, and we seriously cannot wait for you to hear it. It's taking some time, but it's coming along and we're very excited about it. Anyway, we really miss not playing much lately, so Al and I are playing a fun little acoustic show at The Clubhouse here in Kenosha (corner of 30th Ave and 27th St). We'll be playing all night, starting at 9pm, and will be doing both original stuff (including some of the brand new songs we're recording) as well as lots of fun covers (including some sing-a-longs). Hope to see ya' there!!

Pics from Coin's are up! - March 18, 2010
What a great night! Thank you to all that came out. It was a very nice surprise when Chad (and our friends John and Joel) showed up unexpectedly...making a last minute decision to drive from Madison and come down to K-town and rock! Very cool. Also wonderful to see and hang with Kevin, Colleen, Amy, and Dan (who came up after a day in Chicago), our faithful buds M-dizzle and Timmay, my cousin Dino and his wife Donna, the Freak, birthday boy Steve, Markus, Maureen, Rob, all of Al's work buddies, our musician friends Jon, Jimmy, and Danny, Paco and Jackie, Rudy, Larry and Elaine, and many others I'm forgetting at this late hour. Much love to my mom and wife Dee, who have each seen us WAY more times than any human should have to endure...your love and support are amazing. Anyway, enough babbling - Here are the pics.
I am very fortunate to play music with and for such great people. God bless -

TONIGHT!!! - February 20, 2010
There was a last minute show added at Coin's. The band that was booked there had to cancel, so us and our good friends Unlikely Hero (and maybe a few other guests as well) are going to play some fun acoustic stuff tonight. And we've got a bunch of new great covers to play as well! We'd love to see ya' there!!
Rhode pictures - January 29, 2010
Pics are up from last Saturday's show at the Rhode Center for the Arts. It was refreshing to play a "theater" type of venue, where everyone could sit comfortably and still see everything well. It was also really nice to be able to play something that was "all-ages", as that's something we don't get to do enough of. We'll definitely work on setting another show up there; hopefully sometime around August or September.
Recording update: Our drummer Brian will be having a surgical procedure very soon. He should be fine, but will need to rest and stay off his kit for a short while. This means we'll be starting to record the first week of March. In the meantime, we may start on a couple acoustic tracks in the studio, and I believe we will be adding an acoustic show in the very near future. ("Insider update: it will likely be Feb. 19th at McAuliffe's on the Square).
Take care, and try to stay warm. Love y'all -
Rhode show info - January 19, 2010
We would love for a ton of people to come out! It's all ages, so bring the kids! It's also an earlier show, so you will be fine for football on Sunday.
We will be selling cd's for $5 and t-shirts for only $7. 100% of this money will go to The Red Cross for the Haiti relief efforts. It's our small part in trying to help. Individually, we can't do much, but together we can accomplish amazing things!
Also, if you bring a non-perishable food item, you will receive a two-for-one drink ticket. These donations will go to First Stop Services of Kenosha to feed the homeless.
Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door. You can get tickets by calling 262-657-7529 or clicking on this link: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/93396
Hope to see you there!
Pictures from Saturday - December 28, 2009
The pictures are up on our Facebook page. We'll try to get them up here in the next couple days, but unfortunately the photo uploading process for this site is painfully time-consuming. We'll do our best!
So, about the show. The night was fantastic! We dusted off quite a few Sahara Jack tunes, and they turned out pretty good. The best part, though, was seeing some friends that still knew the words to them! Amazing. It was also great having Ernie's vocal and guitar talents really fill out our sound once again. Thanks again to everyone that came out, especially when the weather wasn't particularly friendly. I think playing a reunion-type show right after Christmas may have to become a yearly tradition...
Hope everyone's New Year is awesome. And safe.
Peace, love, & blue skies -

Happy Birthday Jesus! Rock show Saturday night - - December 25, 2009
Nothing like a full day of eating, unwrapping presents, cleaning up, eating, putting together presents, cleaning up, and eating more...it's all so worth it, though! Now, if only the Peace on Earth would happen...
Tomorow at McAuliffe's on the Square is going to be crazy! My advise is to get there early, as we're getting feedback (the good kind) that LOTS of people are coming. Ernie Grice is starting at 9pm with an acoustic set. He has been living in Texas, and when he gets a little precious time, he has been writing some amazing songs. And, for those who don't know, Ernie used to play and sing with us in the past (around 2002-2004 in Mojo and many years ago with Dom and myself in Sahara Jack (note the lovely - and dated -promo pic) -
So Ern will be joining us onstage as well for our two full sets of rock! We'll be playing a bunch of Mojo tunes, some of the old SJ stuff, and of course some fun covers too. In-between the sets and after we're done, we're looking forward to hanging out and maybe sharing a Christmas drink with y'all! Take care,
Grant
Fun with Photo Editor - December 10, 2009
December...how time flies! - December 3, 2009
I see the decorations going up all around town, so I believe it is now a good time to start listening to Christmas music. Good thing some of the radio stations started playing it a few months ago!
Our acoustic show at Potawatomi was alot of fun. It's a stranger gig than usual, as most of the people there are obviously there to gamble - not to listen to live music. But thanks to our many good friends that came out, as well as some fun people that stuck around, we had a great night. Another cool bonus was that a few people we know actually won nice amounts of money...it must've been good karma for coming out and supporting us!
Keep Jan. 23 open - we're setting up a different type of show for us and it should be really cool. Details to come in the next few days...
I know we've been talking about it for a long time, but we ARE set to begin recording in January. New songs and ideas keep popping up, and we want this to be our best disc yet, so it's taken a bit longer than we originally planned. We're very excited about it though!!
Take care - stay warm - make memories - pray for peace -

Once the turkey settles - - November 25, 2009
Hey all! ( In "Cleveland Brown's" voice )
Hope I caught you before you bailed out of work for the rest of the week. Take it easy tonight.... I'm sure the boys in blue will be out.
Happy Holidays from 89 Mojo. Lets start out the season with some good old American fun. Rock and Roll and gambling.
We will be at Potowatomi Casino in Milwaukee at 'Bar 360' on Saturday for a fun filled, crowd participation acoustic show. This show has been a blast the last few times we've played here. Hey, you may even win some money!! Show starts at 9pm.
JUST ADDED:
We will be at McAuliffe's on the square Dec 26th. Our old pal Ernie Grice will be in town to perform with us. Good Times for sure.
( I did a nice job keeping this email P.C. With Thanksgiving and gambling and drinking in the same paragraph it was wide open. )
The turkey doesn't make you tired..... it's the wine.
Peace. ( watch it......)

Banditos - November 17, 2009
As we've stated many times before, one of our favorite artists is Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, as well as his former band The Refreshments. So we hope they don't mind us covering their tune...
A few more - - November 12, 2009
We added some more pics from our Halloween show, courtesy of the Brat Stop's amazing photographer. Check back soon for a new show date and more updates to the site.
Live Loud! Peace -

Sorry it took awhile - November 9, 2009
Halloween at the Brat Stop pictures are now up. Our apologies for not getting them posted sooner, but there were a few troubles getting them uploaded. A few more may be added in the next few days. Also, we might be posting some video as well - so check back for that. Other than that, we hope all's well with you and that you each have a wonderful Thanksgiving. We'd love to see ya' at Potawatomi at the end of the month!
Pics from Halloween - November 5, 2009
Halloween rock show - October 29, 2009
Hey all! How've ya' been? We miss you guys...and that's one of the reasons why we can't wait until Saturday night! We will be at the Brat Stop for the annual Halloween Bash. Our good buds New dog Trick will kick off the party at 9pm, Mojo at 11:15 (and we have some "RAWK" to match our costumes). Speaking of which, the Costume contest is at midnight, and first prize is $1000!!
Don't miss this one.
We would like to congratulate our good friend Steve Hawkins on his becoming co-owner of Renwood Messenger Recording Studios. Steve has been involved in many recordings of area bands and artists as well as all of the Mojo cd's, so this is going to be very cool for all of us!!
We've been a bit quiet lately, but things have been going on. We're still getting all the songs ready to record. We have even received permission from one of our favorite artists - Will Hoge - to cover one of his songs! He's an amazing singer, songwriter, and performer, so we're very excited about this. We just hope we can do him justice! Here's a pic of us with Will after his last show in Milwaukee -
Beautiful day for a festival! - September 12, 2009
Don't miss this last great opportunity for some last minute summer fun, food, and music! There's an entire Kids Park with all sorts of cool things (huge "firetruck" slide, human bowling, sumo wrestling, etc), plus food and other vendors, a beer garden, the Trinity Irish Dancers, live music, and even a laser light show at 9pm! (and to let you in on a little secret...we're going to invite all the kids onstage to jump around on the last song with us)
First off, some pics from Rock the Block are up. As always, it was an incredible night thanks to the many, many people that come out and support it each year. It was also really cool sharing the night with two great bands, Unlikely Hero & Blu Steel. Not only are they our friends, but they're incredible musicians as well as genuine, fun, good people. Much like our pal Chad who came down from Madison to join us onstage once again. That is always a pleasure. Lets keep this Rock the Block going every year...it's good for the community AND good for the soul.
Next Saturday (9/12) we will be at Southfest (Sunnyside Park in Kenosha). It's your last chance to hang outside with friends and family, have some food, play some games, and listen to some live rock 'n roll. Hey, there's even beer available for the couple of you that might enjoy that sort of thing! We start at 5pm, but get there early to enjoy the festival, including the Trinity Irish Dancers that go on at 4:30. And following us is a great band called the Karlz. Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and actually get some decent weather...
For much of September and October, we'll be taking some time off to actually begin recording the new cd that we've talking about for awhile now. We're excited about it, as we are trying some new things musically and lyrically. No idea on when it'll be done and available, but we'll give updates as they happen.
Oct. 31st we're glad to be back at the Brat Stop for their amazing Halloween party. Last year was awesome, and this year will be even better since we'll be sharing the night with New Dog Trick. We played once before with these guys, and they are a killer rock/party band.
Hope all's well. Peace -
Grant
RTB09 - August 20, 2009
Yes! Rock the Block is just around the corner (specifically, the corner of 22nd Ave and 52nd Street) - and we're very excited about it! For those who aren't quite sure what it is, it's a big 52nd Street pub crawl with entertainment at a bunch of different clubs. $5 in advance ($10 at the door) gets you a wristband that allows entry into all of the participating venues...and there's ALOT of great acts performing! We'll be at Coin's (of course, it's our "home") with our great friends Unlikely Hero playing at 8pm, us at about 9:15, and our longtime local heroes Blu Steel putting an exclamation mark on the evening at about 11pm. It's a party for a great cause (Boys and Girls Club), and we'd love to see ya' -
Feeling lucky? - August 15, 2009
Win big at Potawatomi Casino tonight! Even if you don't like to gamble, we've got 3 sets of fun acoustic music, plus there's drink specials! Hope to see ya' there -
